Social Security Seminar
Feb 25 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

As the Baby Boom Generation nears retirement, conventional wisdom surrounding Social Security that once served as a guide, may no longer be right for today’s retirees as corporate pensions have disappeared, out-of pocket health care costs continue to soar and life expediencies are on the rise. As a result, the decision to collect Social Security benefits could potentially result in the loss of thousands of dollars in retirement income if not properly evaluated. The program explores the latest thinking on retirement income planning as it relates to collecting Social Security benefits and the greater importance of having a well-defined and coordinated income strategy beforehand.

Important topics covered include:
 What critical claiming mistakes should be avoided?
 Will Social Security be there for me?
 How much can I expect to collect from Social Security?
 At what age should I apply for Social Security benefits?
 How does Social Security protect my spouse?
 Will Social Security be enough to live on?

This seminar is presented as a community service by Representatives of Retirement Solutions, LLC, who
specialize in the area of retirement income planning. It is intended for an audience with a basic level of
knowledge of the subject matter. Program goals include: The identification of a process to eliminate
unnecessary guess work, key mistakes to avoid, better preparedness and improved interactions with Social
Security Administration personnel. No financial companies or their specific products will be discussed,
mentioned or recommended.

The Great and Powerful Dave (Virtual)
Aug 13 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

David Moreland, who has visited our library many times as ‘Moreland the Magician’ is now ‘The Great & Powerful Dave‘ and he’ll be performing his high-energy 30-minute LIVE show via Zoom. Through the miracle of the Internet, Dave, in his studio in New York City, will perform a show especially for patrons of the Frank J. Basloe Library, and you get to tune in and interact via your computer screen at home. The show is bursting with magic, comedy, puppets, and – YES! — audience participation & opportunities to volunteer! During the show, The Great & Powerful Dave will take you ‘behind the scenes’ and teach you a magic trick you can perform at home, and show you how you can keep connected to the Basloe Library all summer long!
